Dramatic short film made by, starring, and about autistic individuals. Mildly Different is the story of a young woman on the autistic spectrum who struggles with the world around her until the kindness of one person helps her to regain self-confidence and changes her life.

This award-winning film is made by autistic writer/director/producer, Anna Czarska, co-produced by Gemma Stack, starring IFTA nominated, autistic actor, Jordanne Jones in the lead role, alongside Ruby Connolly as her younger counterpart, and Lara McIvor supporting.

The film features an original score by award-winning composer Natasa Paulberg and a tune from Irish chart topping singer-songwriter, Orla Gartland.

 

Mildly Different won the 2022 Louth Internation Film Festival "Audience Choice Award" for best short film and had it's North American premiere at the fabulous Newport Beach Film Festival. The film screened for a number of wonderful festivals including The Kerry International Film Festival and IndieCork where it picked up a "Best Emerging Director" award. Mildly Different was also a Semi-Finalist for the ScreenCraft Film Fund 30k Competition in 2021, a Semi-Finalist for Bumble's Female Film Force 22k Competition Spring of 2019, a finalist in Talent Nation/FM 104's 10k competition Fall of 2019, as well as a winner of the Lift Off Manchester Screenplay Competition and the CFIFF Screenplay Competition, a finalist in the 13th Annual Waterford Film Festival Screenplay Competition, LISP, Annual Aarhus Film Festival, and was Gold Listed by the British Independent Film Festival.

We have managed to successfully raise €34,000 via support by the Arts Council’s Arts and Disability Connect Scheme managed by Arts & Disability Ireland and community support via crowdfunding.
